Fraternity and Sorority Recruitment

At Oregon State, we have five distinctive governing councils that make up our fraternity and sorority community.

We encourage you to explore all our councils have to offer! The information on this page will help you learn more about upcoming council-sponsored recruitment and intake events where you can connect with our chapters! You can also learn more about individual chapters on our Chapter Profiles.

Collective Greek Council

The Collective Greek Council (CGC) is the governing council for unhoused, academic and special interest organizations. It's membership is currently includes 4 sororities that each have a specific academic focus.

Chi Theta Phi - Art & Design

Phi Sigma Rho - Engineering

Sigma Alpha - Agriculture

Sigma Delta Omega - General Science & STEM

CGC chapters hold independent recruitment processes a few times each academic year. The best way to learn about these joining opportunities is to follow CGC and its member chapters on social media.

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing council for traditionally housed fraternities. There are currently 23 IFC fraternities with 19 are housed and 4 offer an un-housed experience.

IFC chapters recruit new members all year round, including the summer. Chapters might contact students directly and summer recruitment events are posted on chapter's social media. It is up to each individual student if they would like to accept a bid over the summer or wait until Fall Term.

Interested students are encouraged to reach out to chapters that interest them through social media or by contacting the chapter recruitment chair. Chapter contact information can be found in their chapter profiles.

Panhellenic Council

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing council for housed sororities. Oregon State has 11 Panhellenic chapters and all are housed.

Primary Recruitment is the ONLY opportunity throughout the year to see ALL PHC chapters.  This process uses a mutual selection – as prospective members are narrowing down the chapter they are visiting, chapters are narrowing down how many women are invited back to their events.

Primary Recruitment takes place after the start of Fall Term so there is no early move-in required. Signing up for recruitment is a great way to meet other new students and find connection at the start of the academic year!
